Metronet Invest £2.8 million in 24/7 Control Centre

Metronet have chosen Brookvex to provide the business critical disaster recovery telecoms infrastructure required to support its new £2.8 million 24/7 Control Centre in central London.

Metronet have built this new facility in order to achieve a step change in their performance at responding to faults and incidents within the London Underground environment.

Metronet have just 12 minutes, from the report of a fault on the network, to get someone to the scene.  They then have 10 minutes to rectify it.

A reliable and fast response is essential to minimise lost customer hours for which Metronet are penalised.

Multiple contractors were involved in the construction and commissioning of the new Control Centre however Metronet trusted Brookvex to provide it's business-critical disaster recovery infrastructure.

The new control centre uses a VOIP telephone system and has at least 15 people on duty every hour of the day.  The disaster recovery telecoms is provided by way of an Avaya system that feeds separate backup desk phones and supports wide area links to a remotely located standby control centre.
